While doing a cabinet clean out, I came across this angelic little gem from the homeschool archives. It's old school writing practice. The children would tell me whatever sentence they wanted to write. I'd give them a perfect mother example to follow, and off they'd go copying the text numerous times. This one chose to write about angels because he is one...most of the time.

Salad in a Sombrero
Could have posted this on Savory Salvations due to the pictured green salad, but instances like this are actually part of our real life.

Natural Stylings
For our latest styling, we used these natural blessings to accent the shoot. Hand-picked from the garden and photo ready, gathered bunches of foliage exhibit nature's true beauty potential.

Family Fun: Action Karts
It was one of those weekends that flew by due to the dauntingly busy schedules that large families bring. Every child has their need and accommodating this all together creates a fast and furious time warp. And on the note of fast, we found ourselves enjoying a brief stop at Action Karts. Ages 8+ can enjoy lap after lap of high speed fun sold in 10 minute increments. Friendly service and a safe clean track deliver the perfect pit stop for fun times.

We're building a rocket. Is dinner ready?
More frequently than ever is the time that I walk into a room in my house and I see a table full of random, sometime questionable, things. The photo below exhibits the most recent randomness. I asked what a bunch of broken match sticks missing their combustible bits were doing on the dining table. (These missing red tips were gathered in another questionable place not pictured here.)
Nonetheless, I immediately asked what was going on and their answer is the title of this post: We're building a rocket. Is dinner ready?
Perfect.

Wonderland Styling
I recently did a photoshoot featuring an Alice in Wonderland theme. Tea cups, red hearts, clocks and costumes galore. The children were gorgeous and here's a snapshot.

Stick Family Three
Our dear friends shared their most recent family photo with us. Their very artistically inclined daughter combined her skills with her absolute love of nature to create this: A naturally artistic rendition of her family.
Creativity is key to a happy childhood and photos like this prove just that. We love.

Fly Trapping Station
As a mother of a crew of boys, it's quite often I'll walk into one of the rooms and find something random like this. A sheet of baking paper splattered with Maple syrup straight from Canada. At $10 per bottle, you would understand my gasp at viewing what I quickly found out was a, "fly trapping station". Of course, it is.
You'll notice the family house flyer below promises $1 per fly caught. I'm sure the station will eventually work and yield profits. It's day 2. Not a single one caught yet.

Robert Clark & My Feather Affinity
Robert Clark is on a photographic mission to unearth the evolutionary mystery behind feathers. Attention, ornithologists!
I've an affinity for feathers. So much so, that I've acquired one of a permanent nature. When I caught wind of Clark's growing collection of feather photos for National Geographic, I knew I had to share with all of you. This collection of fascinating photos is the basis for a book focusing on the feather's role in the process of evolution. They allow animals to take flight, defy gravity and move above all the rest of the species on earth with a combination of the feather's structure, aerodynamic design and even color. Science is incredible. Despite all that, they are simply beautiful.

Nepal Earthquake: #giveback
Nepal was hit with a 7.8 Magnitude. Geophysicists have studied the plates around this area for years and reported that India is moving underneath Nepal and Tibet at a rate of 1.8 inches per year. Nearly 1.5 million people live in Kathmandu and Nepal has a per capita income among the lowest in the world. This is utter devastation.
So, if you can, please #giveback.

Buried Spoon
It's often the occasion that my children do things to shock me. Actually, I've grown quite numb over the years. Tons of toilet paper, random kitchen creations and spontaneous water fights have become the norm in this house. Today, I was vexed by my latest finding. A spoon buried in the back yard. I'm not going to even ask. I'm grabbing it, putting it in the dishwasher and moving on.
A buried spoon...really?

Instapost: Recycle In Style
We keep two of these stylish bulky bags around for all the house to do their part. Made of hemp and purchased at Trade Aid, recycling had never made a home look so tidily bohemian chic.
