Baby on Board

Usually, I can leave bumper stickers and their silly attempt to capture the driving audience. I was captured by cool cuteness today and it made me a bit clucky. Have a look.

Is It Alright For Me To Just Hangout Here In Downward Dog?

These words were uttered by my preschooler while we were practicing at home. Yoga. It's a lifestyle for us and I start them early. The flexibility, strength, and peace it brings to any student practicing yoga is greatly beneficial to your life. Whether you're at home, traveling, or on the beach, yoga exercise is free and can be done anywhere.
Classes are always an option, but you can get online tutorials. CD's, books and videos are also readily available to guide your practice.

It doesn't have to be expensive to be healthy.

This photo is from Calm For Kids Yoga Card Set. My children love to take turns drawing a card and then play instructor by displaying the pose for us. (Instructions for proper form are included.)

We frequently practice family style yoga at home. We don't take it too seriously and the kids love that they have their favorite poses down. Hence the title of this post...

Tips for doing yoga with kids:

Use towels for the little ones if you don't yet have mats for your whole crew.

Drink water during practice.

Less is more with kids. Don't push them.

Follow it up with some meditation.

Have fun.

Namaste.

Stick Family Three

Our dear friends shared their most recent family photo with us. Their very artistically inclined daughter combined her skills with her absolute love of nature to create this: A naturally artistic rendition of her family.

Creativity is key to a happy childhood and photos like this prove just that. We love.

Morning Yoga

Here is a real life scene that repeats itself most every morning in our house. Used by adults and children alike, yoga is simply a part of our life. Namaste.

Photographic Outtakes are Puzzling

Here is a glimpse of what we have been photographing in our real life. We have been commissioned to photograph the vintage collection of a New Zealand native and his family's treasures from over the past 6 decades. Extraordinary stuff and here is our favorite outtake from the session. Life is a puzzle sometimes.

Toy Shopping for the Holidays? Read THIS First...

The robotic fish, of which I have half a dozen, are listed. The detachable tail poses a choking hazard.
It is the season to be shopping and the focus is definitely on the children's Christmas List. Every year, a new wave of toys is pressed upon us as we try to sort the best for our brood. We can become overwhelmed. Of course the appeal to the child is going to determine which toy they gleefully open Christmas morning, however as parents, we need a baseline. Safety. That is why we regularly check Recalls.gov where the governance of toy safety is maintained and presented to the public. You can even receive updates. Clinical Pediatrics released a study showing an increase in toy related accidents in children by 40%. Most injuries are in the under six range and are related to choking hazards. Another big concern are scooters which are popular all over the world but accidents are heavily abated with the use of a helmet, knee and elbow pads. Protection is power.

Herb Admiration

Getting children to appreciate the garden should be a life goal for all parents. They are amazed by the simplicity that is growing things and that's as it should be. A tiny garden means future sustainability. A tiny gardener guarantees food's future. Period.

Instablog: Beautiful & Bruised Butterfly

Butterflies are usually a sign of change. We spotted this beautiful creature not far from the beach and we think he was trying to tell us Spring is coming. Unfortunately for him, it's not quite here yet.

We Found FOUND

With our latest addition to the family, we've discovered a whole new world in the form of animal accessories. There are tons to choose from and there is an array of dog accessories to shop from everywhere ranging from women's boutiques to discount stores all over the world. I'm a bit of a discerning shopper even when it comes to our four-legged little brother. Too many options first of all. He is also tiny so then there's that, too. Then I found FOUND. This brand immediately spoke to me when I found them at The Flock in the Tannery. Found My Animal is a premium dog accessories brand out of Brooklyn, New York featuring handcrafted designs that are sturdy and can be uniquely worn. There are leashes, collars, and leads that are made from hand-spliced rope using marine-grade leathers, materials and metals. The range comes in an array of colors for collars, leads and leashes with varying thicknesses and sizes to accommodate dogs from tiny to huge. The brand encourages owners to rescue dogs in need and their in-depth site even offers up current listings for available dogs.

We get a lot of cotimpliments on our very smart looking collar and I spread the word about the brand. Especially since they offer International Shipping which is a big bonus in my book. Check out the site here and shop their entire range.

They sent over these photos to share with you below so  have a preview and then pamper your pooch with a bit of eco-luxury.
