Is It Alright For Me To Just Hangout Here In Downward Dog?

These words were uttered by my preschooler while we were practicing at home. Yoga. It's a lifestyle for us and I start them early. The flexibility, strength, and peace it brings to any student practicing yoga is greatly beneficial to your life. Whether you're at home, traveling, or on the beach, yoga exercise is free and can be done anywhere.
Classes are always an option, but you can get online tutorials. CD's, books and videos are also readily available to guide your practice.

It doesn't have to be expensive to be healthy.

This photo is from Calm For Kids Yoga Card Set. My children love to take turns drawing a card and then play instructor by displaying the pose for us. (Instructions for proper form are included.)

We frequently practice family style yoga at home. We don't take it too seriously and the kids love that they have their favorite poses down. Hence the title of this post...

Tips for doing yoga with kids:

Use towels for the little ones if you don't yet have mats for your whole crew.

Drink water during practice.

Less is more with kids. Don't push them.

Follow it up with some meditation.

Have fun.

Namaste.
